Glasgow University, Theatre.
I'm studying at glasgow; originally theatre and english but after many depressing victorian novels now just theatre. I love glasgow! brilliant music n clubs and buildings and genuine, fun people. there is so much stuff to do outside classes that i dont get round to most of it! i joined a 'fun' choir which is quite hard (but quite fun), but am thinking of switching to the new gospel choir ive seen on posters. theres also drama workshops (free) every now and then, and free talks by interesting people like directors or activists. in a big city theres so many things to do all the time so u can pick and choose well:)... i think in most cities theres a magazine or paper with listings in about once a fortnight (the crak in newcastle, the list or the skinny in glasgow), its free and u can pick it up and see whats goin on and whos in town.
what i love about university is there are no stuipid rules! you can pursue the line of research u want in your studies, so u can go really deep into something youre really interested in. when i first got an academic book out the library i was so frustrated, this stupid academic language i couldnt understand having to look at the dictionary every sentence.... but don't despair.... you do get used to it. if the language of something is too hard, dont give up have a look at a simpler book instead, and always make use of online journals (like very short books online, ask for a password from the library to use them), theyre so helpful! have confidence and talk to people, everyone will be pleased someone spoke to them! dont get with anyone mingin in freshers week. and venture outside the uni!
