If you want to go to Art College, do you have to do a foundation year first?

It is essential to do a foundation year, however at Edinburgh you can do your foundation year there as the first year of your four year course.

You can do a foundation year at Carlisle and it has a really fantastic foundation course. Of course everything changes from year to year. The course can only be as good as the best student as the student then pushes the teachers. It is difficult to guage a course as you can be inspired by what happened the previous year. However, when you get to higher education you apply your own pressure - life is what you make it!

How did you get into Edinburgh?

I got into Edinburgh on the strength of my portfolio.

What did you do after you finished your course?

I worked as a community artist in Edinburgh - that was great. I had started networking in my final year as I saw that nothing was going to happen, so I started volunteering at a community arts centre and then once I graduated I started running creative art workshops for children.

More to come soon........
